Winning the 'Best see and do in Lewis and Harris' category at the inaugural island awards ceremony, the Weaving Shed is an independent studio shop where almost everything is made entirely by hand, in-house, by myself and my sister. Together we design our unique Two Sisters Tweeds and weave them on our 85 year old single width Hattersley loom. I then use the fabric to create one of a kind pieces, from homeware such as throws, cushions, lampshades and wall hangings, to clothing such as shawls, scarves, cloaks and more tailored pieces. I also paint original watercolours and create unique jewellery from seashore finds, tweed and ceramics. For the crafter, we also sell the fabric by the meter and stock buttons, offcuts and yarn ends. Our most popular range last year were our luxury tweeds: alpaca, merino and the most special, Gotland from our own sheep fleeces!
