Artist Statement

Dina Campbell is an award winning contemporary artist who is originally from the village of Gravir in South Lochs. She left Lewis to study Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with distinction. She has now returned to Lewis to set up her new studio in Ness.
Dina developed a keen interest in the therapeutic aspects of creative activity and went on to become a lead artist for Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust and Fife NHS, designing and facilitating visual arts projects for people in Stroke Rehabilitation or for those living with acquired brain injury.
For the last 15 years she has practiced as a full time artist and exhibits in galleries across central Scotland. Her work has been selected for exhibition by the RSA, RSW, RGI and PAI.
Dina’s work is expressive in style and often leans towards abstraction. There is a strong emphasis on colour and energetic mark making. Many of her large scale works are based on still life, bold florals and organic forms, represented in harmonious or complimentary colour combinations. She also explores aspects of the landscape using collage and mixed media.
