Dotty originates from Lanarkshire, mainland Scotland, She has lived, worked and raised her family in the Isle of Lewis since 1998. Outside of her full time nursing career Dotty creates her artwork using mixed media and is especially drawn to seascapes and abstract styles. Over the years the sea has become very important to her. Being by the sea in all weathers brings fresh clarity and inspired creativity. Even on a wild and stormy grey winters day the green and blue colours of the sea are clear and vibrant. Dotty can frequently be found beachcombing for sea glass which she sometimes incorporates within her work.

Dotty has always enjoyed being creative. She is a self taught artist. Her creativity continues to grow and develop and she looks forward to creating more abstract styles this year using different approaches to achieving colour, texture and movement within her work.
