Landscape and wildlife paintings mainly acrylic on canvas and lino prints

Artist Statement

Fiona Simes is an artist and print maker living and working on the beautiful Isle of Lewis. She has always been greatly influenced by the natural world and has a passion for birdlife in particular. She has lived and worked on Raasay where she has an on going exhibition at Raasay House. A few years ago she moved from her studio in Seilebost to set up The Hebridean art Studio on the Hebridean Way in Laxay where she is always happy to see people and make a hot drink for you!
She loves to be out exploring when she will make watercolour sketches to capture the essence of a particular view or to just sit and watch the birdlife. She will take these experiences back to the studio where she paints expressive and evocative landscapes with acrylic on canvas . In contrast to the expressive work she also creates intricate Lino prints of every day life that she sees around her either on her croft or on the Islands in general.
