Kitty Willow Crafts is the business name for Rachel Pearson, a multi media craft artist.
As a dedicated crazy cat lady, her business is named after her beloved ginger cat, Willow, who lived to a fantastic19 3/4 years old. When ill health forced her to give up work, Rachel found solace at home “playing” with different crafts. Her first exhibition of sorts was a collection of different pieces for sale at her house, to raise funds for a charity which had been supporting her through chronic illness. This was a resounding success, and the encouraging customer feedback prompted her to open an online store, and approach some local shops to stock her items. Since then she has continued to explore working with new mediums, and extend her range of skills, as well as the number of places you can find her work. This now includes her own shop in Stornoway, He.Re., which supports over 25 other artists and crafters from the Outer Hebrides. Living in Ness at the Northern tip of Lewis, Rachel finds inspiration all around her in the dramatic land and seascapes, as she works with resin, textiles, felt and watercolour. One of her main passions is using Harris Tweed * in her work, as this has such a deep rooted connection to the Outer Hebrides. The traditional colours and patterns in the weaving reflecting those in local nature. Expect, beach themed resin pieces, textile pictures, teddy bears and jewellery amongst other things from this ever curious artist.
