Artist Statement
After a lifetime of creating and selling art, at the age of 42, I decided that it was time to go back to school, learn more and get a qualification.
In 2014-15 I attended UHI Inverness to do a portfolio building course, learning many new skills, including observational and life drawing, painting, felting, printing and sculpture.
2018-22 I attended University of Wolverhampton to study BA hons Fine Art, but, after exploring the campus during my first year I came across the glass and ceramics studios and I was hooked and changed my course to BA hons Glass and Ceramics with the intention of focusing on glass. Unfortunately the covid years meant that access to glass studios wasn't allowed and I had to work with clay at home. I realised how much I enjoyed using clay and that became my focus. I graduated with a 2:1 despite the disruption.
I'm still working on my style but I enjoy creating contemporary textural landscapes on the surfaces of my vessels, both ceramics and glass. Some of my pieces are functional but most are designed to be sculptural art.
I also do commissions, mostly painted or drawn.
