David Bartles-Smith

David lives and works on a croft in Lemreway, Isle of Lewis, looking out over the Minch to the Shiant Isles and beyond to the Isle of Skye. He and his wife Izzy breed rare breed Soay sheep and the croft also has a young Highland Cattle fold. David has been painting for the past forty years, and is self taught. Initially his focus was on fine drawings and landscape water colours but he now prefers to work with acrylics on canvas. Works are often large and use bold colours and he likes to find inspiration from the Hebridean landscapes.
