I have lived on the Isle of Lewis for 22 years, previously gone backpacking around Isle of Skye and Loch Morar, Scotland, Then, living a fruegal lifestyle in a motorhome for two years between 2003 and 2005.
I have been inspired on the Islands to create a series of paintings with Harris Tweed. I used my leftovers scraps from making skirts, corsages and lavender bags. I painted an underlying painting in acrylics, then machined pieces of patchwork Harris Tweed together and glued them on with pva. I added mixed papers, skeletal leaves, gold leaf and painted over the top.
